About Emma-Clare

Hi, I'm Emma and I am a recent graduate of French and History at the University of Cambridge. I have a passion for language learning and speaking languages, which I love to share with others. Through tutoring, I enjoy providing young people with the opportunity to improve their language skills, which are not only important for passing language exams, but also for developing a broader cultural knowledge. This will permit students to enjoy travel and other cultures more readily, which is a personal passion of mine. I can teach people who are just starting French in or outside of school, students who are preparing for GCSE exams, and students preparing for their A-levels.

I have experience of French in a native setting, having lived and worked in Belgium for a year, enabling me to give students a broader and more accurate learning experience.

About the lesson

Lessons would commence with a test in vocabulary, comprised of words that had been given in the previous session. Following this, the main portion of the lesson would feature a key element of grammar, starting with basic tenses and progressing to more complex constructions in later sessions. This would be taught verbally, with the assistance of a handout sheet that would have practise exercises based on the topic. To finish each lesson, a practise conversation based around the structure of a GCSE exam would take place to help the student prepare for what many students find the most difficult part of the exam. Lessons would last for around 1 hour.
