About Janice
As a believer in learning I have continued to pursue musical education throughout my adult life. After achieving my grade ten classical piano performance in high school, I went on to study musical theory and music history in university. As an adult, I focused my studies on refining my piano performance through private lessons. I also continued my studies in music harmony and piano pedagogy, allowing me to guide my students effectively in their musical explorations. Each of my students have different musical goals for themselves, and I have used my experience to help them achieve those goals. Several of my students have chosen to focus on writing music, playing pop music and jazz, while others have won awards for their achievements in classical piano exams, and gone on to study music in university.

My focus is on making the language of music fun and exciting for students of all ages. I specialize in teaching beginners through Grade 7 piano levels, all ages warmly welcomed. I encourage my students to listen to the music around them, practice at home the ideas discussed during lessons and experiment at the piano. Parents or caregivers are always welcome at lessons, though it is not mandatory. I have guided many students through piano exams with Conservatory Canada or Royal Conservatory of Music while other students have different goals for their musical explorations. My motto is: If you want to play piano, you should play piano!
