About Theo

I am passionate about teaching and supporting the next generation of learners. I also love maths and sciences which led me to pursue medical school. I had a difficult path through secondary school, I was a carer for my terminally ill mother. I sacrificed a lot of my hobbies, felt isolated and my attendance dropped. Despite this, along with other hardships, I managed to get 3 9's, 5 A*'s and the rest A's. I believe everyone's experience with school is completely unique and therefore needs unique support. I am highly motivated to help high achieving students, and aim even higher. Equally, students who struggle have my deepest empathy; It is always a privilege to witness the growth in personal development and confidence. My students often come to me with "I can't do it", or "I'm bad at this" and 99% percent of the time, they haven't been taught it well and after 60mins my students always walk away feeling like they've improved and worked hard.

About the lesson

My lessons are 60 minutes and student-centred; Identifying and correcting knowledge gaps, targeted exam-style question practice to boost confidence from day one! My teaching style is predominantly Socratic; asking key questions that promote critical thinking whilst assisting students to understand the content- not just be able to regurgitate it! We collaborate to achieve goals that the student sets for themselves- covering study skills, revision techniques and common misconceptions. My goal is to formulate a path where students become critical thinkers, are motivated to take responsibility for their own learning.
