My lessons are intended for BEGINNERS, as in people who have never played the guitar or are in the early stages of their playing. I prefer you have your own guitar, but I can lend you my classical or electric for a bit. This is a rough outline of the things I will teach you:
1: Fundamental terms and theory. Introduction to 4 basic chords
2: Introduction to basic strumming patterns, more chords, and warm-up exercises
3. Even more chords, and learning a song of your choice!
4: Bar chords and power chords, and the theory behind them
5. Basic lead guitar techniques, how to read guitar tabs, and learning easy, classic riffs
6. Introduction to improvisation (soloing using pentatonic and blues scale) and 12 bar blues
7. Reviewing chords, more lead guitar techniques, basic lead licks, and putting it all together
Bonus: Tips for songwriting on the guitar, intro to simple fingerpicking, reading music on the guitar
From my experience, these are the fundamental pillars a guitarist needs to build confidence and find motivation to keep practicing and learning on their own. If all of these things are unfamiliar to you, than there’s a lot of stuff we can learn together! If you’ve dipped your feet into some of these things but need guidance to master them, I am here for you! We can take as long as you need to complete each “section”, and if you would like to focus more on certain aspects, skip over some stuff, or go in a different order, I will create personal lesson plans.
My lessons will be based around learning your favourite songs because I believe that it's nearly impossible for anyone to stay motivated about learning to guitar unless the lessons are actually fun. Give me a list of songs you want to learn (I can also give you some suggestions) and I'll find a way to base these fundamental topics around them.
I have a full-time job so I can only do weekday evenings or Weekends. Available times for me:
Weekdays: 6-9 pm
Weekends: Anytime, anywhere (that is easily accessible by metro)
I'm an intermediate guitarist and songwriter who has been playing for over 10 years. I work a daytime job by nothing in life brings me more joy than playing and talking about music. I have prior experience tutoring guitar (from July 2018 - Feb, 2019).
I've done a little bit of everything on the guitar. I've performed at talent shows/open mics, jammed out with friends, and written over 15 songs. No matter what your goal is for playing the guitar, I think there's something I can share with you!
Here's my soundcloud: (concealed information) (please disregard my singing)
