About Anastasiia
Hi there! My name is Anastasiia, and I’m originally from Ukraine, but have been living in the beautiful province of British Columbia, in Canada for the last 6 years. I teach Russian to adults, focusing on Business and Conversational Russian, and I speak three languages fluently: Ukrainian, English and Russian. Additionally, I’m TESL-certified with a Master’s in Business Administration. Thus, my lessons are practical, conversational, and personalized - you’ll learn language you can actually use! In my class we will focus on fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation through real-life tasks and guided conversation. Let’s make Russian your everyday tool for success. See you in class!

My teaching style is student-centred, goal-oriented, and highly practical. I use a blended methodology based on:
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) – Lessons are built around real-life communication, not memorisation.
Task-Based Learning – Students complete purposeful tasks (emails, interviews, presentations, negotiations).
Personalisation – Every lesson is adapted to the student's goals, industry, and language level.
Error-Correction Framework – I use gentle, structured feedback: Immediate for speaking fluency, and delayed for accuracy.
“Learn → Apply → Reflect” model – Students don’t just learn a rule; they practice it and reflect on progress.
Bilingual Support (EN–RU/UA) – I can switch to Russian/Ukrainian for clarification, saving time and reducing confusion (especially for beginners and business learners).
I integrate authentic materials (emails, LinkedIn posts, business cases, TED Talks, interview questions, news sources, IELTS samples) instead of artificial textbook examples.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
1. Warm-up / Speaking Activation (5–7 min)
Quick question, small talk, scenario, or opinion prompt to activate vocabulary and reduce anxiety.
2. Review & Follow-up (5–10 min)
Short revision of previous homework, vocabulary recycling, or pronunciation focus.
3. Main Task / Skill Focus (25–30 min)
Based on learner goals:
Business English → presentations, emails, meetings, negotiations
Exam prep → timed speaking tasks, reading & listening strategies
General English → conversational fluency, vocabulary, grammar in context
4. Feedback & Correction (5–10 min)
Clear notes on mistakes, pronunciation, phrasing upgrades (I often type them live in a shared doc).
5. Lesson Summary & Homework (3–5 min)
I give students personalised homework: micro-tasks (e.g., write 1 email, record 1 voice message, prepare short opinion speech).
What Sets Me Apart
Trilingual Tutor (English + Russian/Ukrainian) – I explain complex grammar and pronunciation issues in the learner’s native language if needed.
TESL-Certified + Business Background – I combine linguistic training with business & academic expertise (MBA + experience in international education).
Specialisation in Adults & Professionals – I help learners with real-life workplace needs: resumes, meetings, LinkedIn profiles, Canadian workplace culture, etc.
Structured Progress Tracking – I provide a personalised learning plan, progress reports, and a shared vocabulary/notes file.
Experience Teaching Immigrants & International Students in Canada – I know the challenges Russian-speaking learners face: pronunciation traps, grammar interference, confidence issues, etc.
Friendly but demanding teaching style – Supportive, but results-driven. My students know exactly what to do between lessons.
