About Eleanor

Hello! I'm an experienced and passionate educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience in Natural Sciences (Grades 8–9) and Life Sciences (Grades 10–12). Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to helping learners develop a genuine understanding of science while building the confidence they need to succeed academically.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have served as a National Senior Certificate (NSS) examination marker for 10 years and have been involved in NSS examination moderation for the past three years. This valuable experience has given me an in-depth understanding of curriculum standards, assessment requirements, and the skills learners need to excel in examinations.

I offer tutoring in both English and Afrikaans, creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenging concepts. Whether a learner needs help catching up, improving marks, or preparing for important examinations, I am committed to providing personalised guidance that helps them reach their full potential.

I believe that education is about more than achieving good marks—it is about inspiring curiosity, developing critical thinking skills, and empowering learners with the confidence to become lifelong learners.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach

I believe that every learner can succeed when concepts are explained in a way that matches their learning style. My lessons are interactive, patient, and tailored to each learner's individual needs.

I tutor in both English and Afrikaans, allowing learners to receive explanations in the language they are most comfortable with.

My teaching methodology focuses on building a strong understanding of concepts rather than memorising facts. I use a variety of teaching strategies, including clear explanations, diagrams, drawings, flow charts, and real-life examples to simplify complex topics. Once learners understand the concept, I show them how that knowledge is assessed in tests and examinations by working through different question types and teaching effective answering techniques.

With more than 20 years of teaching experience in Natural Sciences (Grades 8–9) and Life Sciences (Grades 10–12), together with my experience as an NSS (Matric) examination marker and moderator, I help learners understand exactly what examiners are looking for. My lessons therefore not only improve subject knowledge but also develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and examination technique.

My goal is to help every learner become an independent, confident student who understands the work and is equipped to achieve their full academic potential.
