About Sheridan

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” — Benjamin Franklin I’m Sheridan, and I believe that math becomes far more manageable when students feel supported, understood, and involved in their own learning. With 8 years of teaching experience (K-12) and 5 years of tutoring behind me, I’ve helped many learners discover that they can tackle even the toughest concepts with the right guidance. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where questions are encouraged and progress is celebrated. As a math tutor with a Master’s degree in education, I believe in creating a learning environment where each student feels supported and empowered to succeed. My approach is built on meeting students where they are in their learning journey, using personalized methods and strategies to ensure deep understanding and confidence in the material.

I use a student-centered approach to tutoring, which means I tailor each lesson to your specific needs, pace, and learning style. Whether you're struggling with foundational concepts or tackling advanced algebraic equations, I break down complex topics into manageable steps. I adapt my teaching to accommodate various learning styles—visual, auditory, kinesthetic—so you can grasp the material in the way that suits you best.

Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Warm-up & Review: Brief review of previous material, addressing any questions or misconceptions.
2. New Concept Introduction: Clear, step-by-step explanation of new content, using visuals and examples.
3. Guided Practice: Working through problems together, ensuring understanding and providing immediate feedback.
4. Independent Practice & Wrap-up: Students solve problems on their own, with my support as needed, followed by a review of key takeaways.
