About Emily

Hi there, I am an experienced tutor who teaches maths and English skills in KS1, KS2 and KS3, as well as 11+ subjects. I am currently employed as a tutor and have full DBS certification and skills in supporting all students, including those with SEN. I focus on learning skills as well as the subject material, as I feel it's a fundamental aspect of the learning experience. I also teach 11+ classes, which I am very familiar with, partly after having passed the 11+ myself when I was younger! A little bit more about myself: I am a Zoology BSc graduate, who is currently studying in an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Since finishing my undergraduate degree, I have been employed in teaching positions in which I have had a great deal of practice in breaking down complex topics into more manageable concepts to communicate them more clearly to students. I have been in various tutoring and teaching assistant positions with young people, including a SEN teaching assistant at a school specialising in Autism. Emily was employed on a fixed term contract; had we the opportunity to keep her for longer then I certainly would have. I recommended her to another Kumon Instructor who also employed Emily for a short while when classes were on Zoom (could not do in-centre classes due to the distance of the centre). Emily had a great rapport with the students, was full of praise and very encouraging. Students enjoyed working with her as she was friendly but also raised the bar for their study and supported them in reaching their next targets.
