About Sydney
Hi there! I'm Sydney, a current MBA student with an academic background in Political Science and Communication. Alongside my studies, I work in strategy consulting, where I help organizations improve business processes and present recommendations directly to senior leadership. This means the skills I teach aren't just theoretical, I use them in real, professional settings every week.
I understand that choosing a tutor is a big decision, so I want you to feel confident that you're in good hands. I take a patient, structured approach to every lesson, and I genuinely care about seeing my students succeed, whether that means building confidence in business writing, sharpening a marketing strategy, or improving conversational and professional English. I always come prepared, communicate clearly, and adjust my teaching style to fit how you learn best.
I believe strong tutoring is built on trust and consistency, so you can expect reliability, professionalism, and encouragement in every session. My goal is not just to help you understand a concept once, but to build skills you'll carry with you long after our lessons end. I'd love the opportunity to support you on your learning journey.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in practical application rather than pure theory. As a current MBA student with a background in Political Science and Communication, plus hands-on experience in strategy consulting and business process improvement, I focus on helping students connect concepts to real-world outcomes. I believe learning sticks best when students can see exactly how a skill applies to their own goals, whether that's launching a business idea, refining a marketing pitch, or writing more persuasively.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what the student is working toward and where they're feeling stuck. From there, I break the topic into manageable steps, walk through examples together, and have the student practice applying the concept right away rather than just taking notes. I usually wrap up with a short recap and a specific action item to work on before our next session, so progress carries forward week to week.
What sets me apart is that I'm not teaching purely from textbooks. I bring current, real-world experience from working directly with senior leadership on business strategy and operational improvement, so students get insight into how these skills are actually used in professional settings, not just how they're defined in a course. I also adapt my teaching style depending on whether a student learns best through structured frameworks, conversation, or hands-on examples.
My lessons are well-suited for university and college students studying business, marketing, or communications, as well as professionals looking to sharpen specific skills like pitching, written communication, or business planning. I also work well with English language learners focused on business or professional English, and with students at earlier stages who need help building foundational skills before tackling more advanced coursework.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Sydney is an exceptional mentor and guide in our MBA cohort, and I’ve consistently seen how much value she brings to her peers. As our VP Academic, she plays a central role in supporting classmates through challenging courses, group projects, and exam preparation.
She has a clear talent for breaking down complex business topics—like strategy, operations, and process improvement—into practical, real-world terms that are easy to absorb. Sydney doesn’t just give answers; she asks smart questions that help you think more critically and build your own problem-solving toolkit.
As a mentor, Sydney is patient, organized, and dependable. In her VP Academic role, she helps classmates structure their work, clarify priorities, and manage deadlines, drawing on her experience in consulting and project coordination. She also brings a thoughtful, ethical perspective to discussions about leadership and organizational behavior, which makes her guidance especially valuable for anyone serious about their professional development.
On a personal level, Sydney creates a safe, encouraging environment where people feel comfortable admitting gaps in understanding and asking “basic” questions. She listens carefully, adapts her explanations to different learning styles, and always treats others with respect. Whether it’s preparing for exams, refining presentations, or talking through career paths, Sydney consistently goes above and beyond to help her peers grow.I met Sydney during our time together in the UBC Sauder MBA program, where we took classes together and later worked side by side during an internship. That gave me a close-up view of how she works, and it's why I'm confident recommending her as a Super tutor.
What stands out most is the attention to detail and focus she brings to everything, paired with genuine empathy that makes learning feel approachable. She's a real go-getter and problem-solver, always dynamic in how she adapts to what a situation calls for.
One experience that really showed this was when we worked together to develop training tools for operational practices during our internship. Sydney took a complex process and broke it down into something clear and genuinely useful, balancing precision with an intuitive sense of how people learn best.
If you're looking for a tutor who is thoughtful, driven, and truly invested in your success, Sydney is a fantastic choice.
