About Steve

I am a private Maths tutor based in Sandbach, Cheshire and teach students in the local area, as well as online. I have dedicated over 11 years teaching students in Maths and Accounts aged from 8 years old to 60 years old. I am up-to-date with the ongoing changes in curriculum and have covered KS2 up to and including GCSE levels. I have taught students with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours as well as A grade students and have gained experience in the need to adjust teaching styles to each individual. I take great pride in all aspects of my work and offer a friendly, relaxed and professional manner to all of my pupils and deliver high quality effective tutoring sessions with the emphasis focused on my learners needs and objectives at all times.

About the lesson

Whether you're a pupil at school, a college student or adult learner, Maths is all about confidence and practice. The "positive" practice you get, the more confident you will become.

My approach to tutoring is generally tailored to each individual student. Most students are inclined to learning using various visual, auditory, kinaesthetic methods of teaching and I adopt this approach in my lessons as much as possible. My general approach centres around identifying key areas of difficulty, areas of misunderstanding, consolidation through questions and preparation for exams using a holistic approach.

As a private tutor, I can devote and tailor my time to finding the weaknesses and needs in your knowledge and then working on those, one at a time. We can work at a pace which suits you. I encourage regular discussion of progress and objectives between all concerned - myself, the student and/or parents.

The first session is spent assessing what would be most useful for the individual student.
