About Ainsley

I am a trained secondary teacher with 13+ years experience in the classroom and in tutoring.

I earned my BEd with distinction at the Campus Saint-Jean (University of Alberta) and have taught in French Immersion and Francophone settings.

Junior high is my jam! Most of my professional experience in the classroom has been at the grades 7-9 level, although I have tutored students from grades 7-12. I have even had the privilege of tutoring former students after they have moved on from my classroom.

I am committed to inspiring confidence and a love - or at least an appreciation - of science and math in my students. My favourite thing to hear from a student is "I used to hate math/science, until I had you for a teacher!".

I am dedicated to fostering the growth and success of my students' success. I am reliable and always well-prepared for each lesson. I listen to my students' concerns and questions so that I can be sure to address their evolving needs.

About the lesson

I am focused on providing a personalized learning experience that is tailored to the individual needs and learning style of each student. I strive to foster a friendly and supportive learning environment that promotes open communication, participation, and growth in understanding.

My lessons may include a combination of notes-based teaching, discussions, concept-specific guided practice, homework help, problem-solving exercises of gradually increasing difficulty, and hands-on activities. I use a variety of teaching strategies and tools and to ensure my students stay engaged during the lesson.

Lessons begin with a review of the concepts previously seen to ensure recall and understanding of the fundamental concepts necessary to progress. We can then move on to new material and work through it systematically. Lessons are capped with a brief review of what we covered and planning for the next lesson.

My lessons are well-suited for junior high and high school students, but elementary is also welcome. Whether you are struggling with a specific subject or just want to improve your organization and study habits, I am here to help! I am comfortable tutoring students in various subjects, including math, sciences (general), and language (French Language Arts and English Language Arts). I can teach any subject required in French or in English.
