About Sofiya

I was born in Russia but have spent a good part of my life abroad, and I speak both Russian and English fluently, having grown up in a bilingual household. In my early twenties, I taught English at a private school in South Korea, working with children aged 5 to 15 across a range of levels. That experience gave me a solid foundation in adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities. I truly enjoy teaching because I love sharing the gift of language. Watching someone grow in confidence and start expressing themselves in a new language is incredibly rewarding. Language is not just grammar and vocabulary—it’s connection, culture, and expression—and I’m excited to help others discover that through Russian.

Hello! I’m Sonia and I teach Russian as a second language through one-to-one online lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My approach is simple and practical: we’ll learn Russian mainly through speaking and reading, with a strong focus on conversation and everyday phrases. I believe the best way to learn a language is by using it in real-life situations, so our lessons will feel more like natural conversations than traditional classes.
