About Neil

I'm a classically trained British actor, having studied for 3 years at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

I've appeared in numerous UK theatre and television productions ranging from Shakespeare to Ayckbourn. I played a leading character in 60 episodes of a popular hospital soap. I'm also no stranger to comedy having appeared in numerous TV sit-com's and theatrical comedies. I've even directed stand-up comedy acts. My repertoire has also featured singing and dancing my way through various musicals. Accents are also a forte of mine.

My extensive resume also includes audiobook narration and voiceover work. I've also spent time in front of the camera as both a news presenter and sports anchor.

I would love to share my knowledge and vast experience of the business with you. Let me help you develop and hone your acting skills and work with you to produce confident and impactful audition pieces, not to mention the ability to effectively cold read with confidence and imagination.

I love bringing the best out of people by encouraging their potential and talent, particularly young adults starting out on their careers. I believe in engendering confidence in my students and am always willling them to experiment and be brave - not to fear failure.

It was a natural progression for me to start sharing my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with others who showed the same passion for the business as I do, especially the young.

About the lesson

I like to start with a relaxed chat to gather some insight into my student's character and acting preferences, goals and dreams. I then move to an evaluation process to gauge the students strengths and weaknesses with respect to expression, interpretation, voice and physicality amongst other traits. This enables us to discuss a plan of action to prioritize areas that the student needs to work on. This might well involve the introduction of various acting methods, working on varied texts characterization and audition speeches, audition techniques, vocal, breathing and physical training, and relaxation techniques to mention just a few! Above all, my goal is to engender in my student the confidence to know that they are totally prepared to enter one of the craziest but undoubtedly, one of the most rewarding, professions there is!

Mostly, young aspiring actors.

Make sure, you're a good fit. Don't commit to an extended session of classes. Try a couple of classes with a teacher to see how it feels. Also, ensure the teacher truly understands what you need AND can provide that. Honesty is all important on both sides.

My last visit to a live theatre to be thrilled once more by a stunning performance of "Hamilton " .......although, of course, the word "fond" falls way short of how I felt about this experience!
