About Claire
I am above all else an honest, caring individual; the work I do is about connection, growth, development and catering to the need of the individual artist. My love for what I do is eponymous with an optimistic, in-depth look at what will lie ahead for an actor.
The individualism of the work and how one person can do it differently than the next. There really is no right or wrong, but rather, a fine-tuning to best get you to where the work needs to be.
My love of teaching was implemented by both my parents and sister (all music teachers), but was cultivated by a mentor at Lee Strasberg, when I was a student. I was told by numerous sources to begin the observing process from a teacher's perspective, and thus began a long trail of discoveries, eye-opening experiences and a true honest love for connecting and nurturing students.
I have been a professional instructor at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute with a concentration in Method Acting. I additionally hold a Bachelors Degree in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music, and have 24 years experience as a pianist and cellist.

With regards to Acting, I approach my coachings with students on a structured set of intervals, beginning with getting to know and use your instrument (yourself) before we begin heavy in-depth analysis of text, character inner (and outer) life, as well as beatwork and scene study. Coachings, I view, are fundamentally going to help you grow at a pace that will most be beneficial to you and allow you great ease and flexibility on stage or film.
I approach voice in a similar manner, as the instrument will need to be nurtured, stretched and guided as we move through set scales, phrasings and volume. The voice also develops at a vastly diffetent rate than any other physical instrument, and so, we want to approach said teachings with utmost care, patience and ideology that the more time passes, the more can develop.
With Cello and Piano, workbooks with note and sheet music exercises will be provided. This aims to help with fingering memorization, phrasings, dynamics, and overall structure of a piece. Workbooks can also lend themselves to a deeper knowledge of scales, key signatures and basic music theory that should always be applied to all music.
Like with all my,coachings, I recommend the use of an audio recorder and/or notebook to write down a detailed summary of what was worked on and achieved during our session! :)
All walks of life, mainly ages 7-35 yrs. old, in the past few years. Privately, my students' ages range from 18-33, but I am always open to a grander scale.
Talk to the teacher before the first coaching, and explain to them anything that particularly fascinates, troubles or perplexes you (or your child) about a method they're using for acting, voice, etc. It always helps to gain insight into what came prior, before beginning a new quest with this student. I am always optimistic when there is a will, there will be a way--and so, let us in to what your thoughts are and we will help carve out new ideas from the old.
I most recently coached a former Lee Strasberg Young Actor for his callback for Billy Elliot on Broadway. We definitely harped a long time on getting his brutish English accent just right for the reads, and spent a majority of the time on character choices, impulses and non-verbal behavior when the script permitted. I told him to mainly concentrate on Billy's beats in-between the lines when he chose not to say much--it definitely went in his favor.
