About David

Growing up, all I wanted to do was be an actor - speficially on TV and Film. I went to college for musical theater and when I graduated, I had no idea how to act on camera. I got lucky with some wonderful jobs with patient people who taught me so much - and I want to return the favor.

I want to help those like me who had the DESIRE but not the EXPERIENCE.

I've been a member of SAG-AFTRA for 12 years: starring in a national commerical campaign for Airborne, on a soap opera for three years, multiple primetime shows, independent and studio movies. I am also a festival award-winning screenwriter, an optioned playwright, and the creator of a hit scripted podcast.

This year, I returned to my alma mater, Baldwin-Wallace University, to teach On Camera Acting over Zoom.

I was offered a job to teach via Zoom at Baldwin-Wallace University during the pandemic, teaching Juniors and Seniors.

I worked as a series regular on a ABC's "One Life to Live" from 2009-2012.

I've had recurring roles on four major network series: CBS' "The Good Fight", NBC's "Constantine", Netflix's "Insatiable", and NBC's "Deception", plus guest starring roles on a number of hit shows, including "Gossip Girl", "Shades of Blue", "The Night Shift", "Instinct", "Elementary", "Bull", and "Law & Order".

I've had small parts in big movies ("How Do You Know") and big parts in small movies ("Dirty Sexy Saint") and everything in between!

I'm also an award-winning writer and optioned playwright, which means I know how to look at scritps quickly and effecient to give the best audition.

First thing I do is talk to the student about the kinds of film and TV they grew up on: those programs and performances that are ingrained in our brain from an early age. Those are going to be where our sensibilities lie. And if I need to give a note or a suggestion that surpasses understanding, that's where I usually start.

I'll give the student a short scene and ask them to make a tape. After the student makes their tape, I'll tell the student the 4 things I'm looking for in a tape. Why? So that the student can watch the the tape and and tell me what they will work on. This instills a pattern with the student of being able to self-adjudicate. I find a lot of success this way.

The student can SEE why something isn't working and KNOW exactly how to fix it.

Mostly with students who are very good actors already, but haven't had much experience working in front of a camera.

Be wary of a teacher who tells you that you cannot succeed without their help. There are many teachers out there. Many paths for many students. But the students needs should be met first. When I know what the student is looking for, what their goals are, I can help them more efficiently.

I was trying to help one particular student be more natural with line delivery on camera. One day, I found his instagram account and saw that he is an incredible jazz musician. So I started giving him notes/suggestions that I would give a jazz musician (I have a music background, too) and his performance improved 4000%. It's my goal to speak a student's language the best I can. To help them learn the way THEY learn.
