About Jessica

My job is to push you way beyond your comfort zone in a safe and supportive enviornment. I excel at showing students there is nothing they can't do with a little effort and a lot of faith. I have faith in my students. I know exactly how to get you where you need and want to be in order to achieve your goals. With over 20 years of experience, I promise you, if you stick with me and practice what I teach, you wil accomplish more than you ever thought possible!

I have taught junior high and high school theatre for 18 years. As a junior high director, my companies have placed 1st or 2nd, and received countless individual awards, in OAP 12 out of 15 years and my high school companies advanced two out of four years. In addition, my HS companies competed in Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards and we have received nominations for Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Ensemble, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestra. One of my student were also awarded with a prestigious scholarship award from DSMHSMTA. She was one of five selected out of a pool of over 200 entries.

Additionally, several students I have trained are currently living out their dreams. One is a fashion/entertainment talk show host for a news station in Houston. Several of my former students are in elite theatre training programs at Cornell University, NYU, and Cornell just to name a few. And a select few are working on the west coast breaking into the film industry. One has already landed lead roles in upcoming Disney and Paramount films.

I believe in my students with my whole heart. That, in turn, gives my students the confidence to trust in me and believe in themselves.

I began my acting career in middle school but focused on dance and choir in high school. I found thatre again in college. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications and Theatre. After working briefly as an investigative report and State Senator media aide, I decided to take my love of theatre and impart on the children who would one day lead us. I then earned my Master's Degree in Education Curriculum & Instruction with a Minor in English and an emphasis on Arts Education.

The absolute, most best thing ever, that I love about the work I do is seeing my students break though that wall that seems to hinder their confidence. That moment...that's what it's all about! Once you realize the bar can be raised higher and higher, and that true learning is a constant, you will be unstoppable. Whether it's working in a professional theatre or a community theatre, or working in a field that seems to have nothing even remotely to do with theatre, you will find the tools, passion, excitement, challenges and confidence you gain through your performances will only increase your value as an asset to any company or business or group. Theatre is Life. Theatre reflects Life. You can choose to be anyone, anywhere, at any time, real or not real, and bring joy and thoughtfulness to your audience and the people who surround you. Again, I truly look forward to going on this journey with you and seeing you accomplish your goals, dreams, and aspirations!

About the lesson

We will spend a little time getting to know each other and discussing your goals for the program. Based on the students goals, I will recommend a plan of action and together come up with what works best. I am extremely flexible and I create lessons, plans, coursework tailored to each individual student to maximize our time and success.
