About Sophie

Hello! I am here to help your young artist meet their individual goals and grow in confidence! My private sessions will be highly individualized. My teaching style is focused on increasing confidence and having fun while growing a strong technical foundation and building skills that will help them succeed in this growing, competitive industry.

A bit about me... I am a dancer/singer/actor currently based in New York City. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have 18+ years of experience in both dance training and performance, having trained with Los Gatos Ballet and San Jose Dance Theatre, as well as attended summer intensives at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and The Juilliard School. I am also a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and most recently performed with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.

As a teacher, I have experience choreographing and assistant vocal directing for children's theatre productions, as well as private dance instruction.

I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre from Point Park University. I have 20+ years of training in the performing arts, and am currently a member of the actors' union Actors' Equity Association, as well as represented by a New York agency. I have experience working with kids from ages 8-18, in both group and individual settings.

About the lesson

When working with a student, my first step is assessing their previous experience and level, as well as goals for the future. Have they ever been involved in dance or theatre, and if so, for how long? How much training, if any, have they received in the past? What are their goals? From there, we will work together to come up with a plan to start from where they are and take steps toward achieving their goals!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals as an artist? Why do you sing/dance/act? Do you plan to pursue it as a career path, or do you just want to sharpen your skills in the meantime? Are you looking into a college program? Do you want to learn how to be a better learner, interpreter, auditioner, dancer, singer, actor, etc? What are some potential areas of growth?

My rate is $45/hr for private coaching. I am available for private ballet, jazz, theatre dance, acting, musical theatre acting through song, and performing arts college preparation. If you are hesitant to reach out because of cost, please reach out anyway! I would love to work together to come up with a plan that works for you.
