About Elizabeth

I have traveled around the country teaching and coaching actors. I knew I always loved teaching, even when I was performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

While I was studying Theatre in college I discovered the Michael Chekhov acting technique. This technique changed my life and became a lifestyle. Chekhov technique, is the safest and most organic way for actors of any level to step into their full potential by making our emotions tangible in the physical world.

For me, Chekhov not only made me a better person but it made me the actor I had always wanted to be.

I started teaching in college and continued after I graduated.

I have a B.A. in Theatre and English and have been trained in Shakespeare, Michael Chekhov, articulation and pronunciation for the stage (RP)

About the lesson

I believe acting is a physical art form and therefore requires the actor and teacher to be physically present in the same space. If it’s our first time together I will ask you questions about your goals and then we will warm up with some exercises. If you already have a monologue I will observe to see where you are at. If you don’t have a monologue yet, I will help you find one as we dive into technique.

I have worked with students who have never acted before to adults with years of experience. For me it doesn’t matter where you are at in your art as long as you have passion.

Before college I tried to find an acting teacher and it was incredibly hard. I either couldn’t afford to learn or I didn’t know if what I’d be paying for was quality instruction. In Sacramento there are many acting programs. But they typically are groups. Acting is an exposure of your soul, I take great care in honoring my students as they grow and learn and take risks. Unlike other places I believe in creating a safe space, where failure doesn’t exist, so we are fearless in our learning.
