About Emily
Acting and dance teach empathy, awareness, and self-confidence. My undergraduate degree in one of the nation's top BFA Acting programs, Texas State University, and my time co-producing in a theatrical dance company Bobcat Dance Theatre equip me with the necessary training and technique to pass my passion along. I also attended University of North Carolina School of the Arts, graduating high school there in 2016. I have taught and choreographed for the past six years. My passion for teaching dance and acting began in high school. Passing along that passion by teaching others fulfills me and enlarges the surrounding artistic community. The arts are ever-important as we turn to them in this difficult time. I am deeply invested in passing along my knowledge and love for acting and dance; tomorrow's artists are our biggest hope for a pandemic of care for one another as human beings.
I began teaching dance at first six years ago. My passion for one-on-one coaching led me to teach acting in monologue sessions soon after.
I hold a degree from one of the nation's top Acting Programs: Texas State University. I graduated with honors, summa cum laude, and worked in a theatrical dance company called Bobcat Dance Theatre throughout my time there.

When working with a new student, I first assess what level they are currently on. This helps us to establish a vocabulary from which to build. Next, I begin a monologue session; here, I use acting techniques such as Meisner, Alexander, and Anne Bogart's Viewpoints to practically apply lessons. Each session ends with a reflection and assignment for the next coaching session.
Find a teacher that speaks to you, specifically; if you do not feel as if you are a sponge soaking in new information, it may be time to look for another coach.

Standard rates begin at $35/hour long session. If a student demonstrates financial need, I can employ a sliding scale as I firmly believe the arts should be accessible to all.
