Welcome to my Superprof page! I'm passionate about helping students excel in Mathematics, and I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience with you. Prior to leaving London, I honed my teaching skills at Mathnasium Fulham, where I gained valuable experience working with students of all levels and backgrounds. From foundational concepts to advanced topics, I am well-equipped to address a diverse range of learning needs.

About the lesson

Hello there! My name is Gautam and I'm a confirmed incoming Engineering undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, on a gap year. I have hundreds of hours of experience tutoring Maths and Physics at a range of levels, from teaching 5 year olds at a Mathnasium Centre to teaching A-Level Further Maths and mentoring Oxbridge applicants. My approach to tutoring is student-centred, focusing on understanding each student's individual learning style and adapting my teaching methods accordingly. I strongly believe in guiding students to derive (and therefore fully understand) concepts & contexts themselves, as students will be better equipped to deal with the problem-solving demands of examination. Owing to STEP II, in conjunction with strong A-Level grades, I can typically solve Maths and Further Maths questions with a glance, and am quite comfortable teaching such advanced content. Additionally, I am very familiar with current A-Level specifications, mark schemes and exam techniques, having myself recently prepared for them. Further, I personally sat 11+ exams and attended a highly competitive boys school in central London, for those interested in 11+ tuition. My lessons typically last an hour, allowing ample time for thorough explanation, practice and discussion, though length can be tailored. I also offer university application preparation sessions for those applying for Engineering at Oxbridge/Imperial and other top universities, particularly with respect to admissions tests (ESAT/PAT), interviews, and college selection. I am knowledgeable about and well plugged into top courses at top universities. Academic Qualifications: Grade 2 in STEP Mathematics II A* A* A* A* at A-Level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Music (concealed information)AA* at GCSE, including 9s in GCSE Maths and Physics Rank 5/1572 in Cambridge ENGAA S2, rank 30/1572 overall (among home applicants) Associate of Trinity College London Diploma in Drum Kit Performance Teaching Experience: One to one maths teaching at Mathnasium Fulham, Primary to GCSE level (200 hours) Private tutor, A-Level Maths & Further Maths (30+ hours) Substitute English teacher in Taipei (20 hours), classes of 5-10 students, ages 8-11 GCSE Physics volunteer tutor within school (15+ hours) DBS Checked

Gautam is great! Clear explanations of all topics in Maths - has a very strong academic record to back it up as well. Very good price in my opinion when compared to the rest of the tutoring market, especially when you consider his experience and success in University admissions and A levels. Gautam knows his subjects thoroughly, not only in the sense that he can apply a methodology but he can also understand why that methodology exists in the first place. On the surface this is a subtle distinction because one can still gain an A* grade without the latter but it does mean that he is able to explain a topic with incredible lucidity.

He taught me (a Classics student not having done Maths for two years) some basic differentiation and proof by induction in about ten minutes. Cool guy
