About Juan
My name is Juan Rajagopal. I am a first-year PhD student in Theoretical Physics at Oxford, specialising in plasma physics for clean fusion energy. I am passionate about Maths and Physics, with two degrees: an MSci in Physics from Imperial and a BSc in Mathematics from the Open University.
I love to tutor, and have been tutoring for the last four years in-person in West London and online. I have been proud to see that many of my students have achieved 8+ grades in their Maths and Physics GCSEs.

I like to split my lessons into two sections: a teaching section, where I explain the content in an intuitive manner, and an application section to test my students' understanding with exam paper questions. Of course I adjust the split for different students – in the lead-up to exams or mocks for example we may perhaps run through exam papers together. My priority is for my students to gain a truly deep understanding of each topic. When solving questions together, depending on the confidence of my students, I adopt the "I do, we do, you do" philosophy – I may set out an example solution, then we might solve a similar problem together, and then finally the student will be able to solve it alone.
Many of my students like to spend half of each lesson on Maths and Physics, and I offer lessons durations ranging from 1 hour to 2 hours. The first lesson is free. Please contact me if you have any further questions!
