Love the relationships built with the players and their parents. I also enjoy being outdoors and watching the student athlete grow.

I think I was gifted with the teaching trait. I actually was helping younger kids with sports while I was still in high school. I've been teaching athletics ever since. I generally only teach private lessons in baseball and also tennis.

Played baseball through high school (Jonesboro Sr High), college (Mercer University), and have been coaching at all levels for over 27 years. I also coach basketball at the middle school level and football at the middle school and high school level. Certified in first aid and CPR and stay current as required by the NFHS, SCISA, GISA and GHSA.

About the lesson

Friendly introduction with the student and his parents at their home prior to the first lesson. We generally go over everyone's expectations and all the details prior to starting. When we actually get to the field we start with fundamental instruction while we build rapport and enjoy our baseball experience. Parents are also encouraged to tag along if they like as long as they like. The main thing is we want everyone to be a part of the lesson and for all of us to have fun!

Just about every type there possibly is. I have had kids as young as 5 and young men through high school age. I have also worked with numerous college players and a handful of professional players.

Find a coach who cares and has a great outlook on life. Try to find someone who cares about you as a player and person and not so much about the money he's making.

Really enjoyed coaching the Fellowship of Christian Atheletes 2020 HS All Star Game. This event was held during the COVID-19 Pandemic in June. Through all the adversity we had a great time with this being the last game for many of the seniors participating. There was a special comraderie in the dugouts, on the field and in the stands at the local minor league complex. It was a very special night to be a part of. I also truly enjoy keeping up with my former players as they move forward in life and I love when they come back to the field in later years to visit our program.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Future aspirations and what they hope to accomplish through the teachings are important, but realistic goals should most definitely be thought about. Also it would be great to ask themselves how hard are they willing to work.

I have team rates for day camps or special sessions that can be negotiated due to number of players and time required. Individual lessons generally run $60 per player per hour. Lessons are not rushed however and I am generous with my time.
