About Jasmine

Welcome to my cello studio! I’m Jasmine Lam, a passionate and experienced cellist dedicated to nurturing your musical journey. With a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from UCLA and a background in both performance and education, I offer a unique blend of technical expertise and artistic insight to help you achieve your musical goals.

What to Expect:

-- Personalized Instruction: Each lesson is tailored to meet your individual needs, whether you're a beginner or an advanced player. I create customized lesson plans that focus on your specific skill level and goals, ensuring that you receive the most effective and engaging instruction.

-- Balanced Approach: I believe in a balanced approach that combines technical skill development with musical expression. My teaching not only covers essential aspects of cello technique—such as bowing, fingering, posture, and intonation—but also emphasizes joy, creativity, and a deep connection to the music.

-- Fostering Wonder and Curiosity: My goal is to foster a sense of child-like wonder in music. I encourage curiosity and questions, creating a positive and supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring and growing.

-- Supportive Learning Environment: I strive to create a nurturing space where you feel motivated to excel, supported by constructive feedback and enthusiastic encouragement. Regular communication with parents ensures that we are aligned on progress and learning objectives.

My Experience:

-- As a private cello teacher, I’ve honed my skills in developing personalized lesson plans and fostering a positive learning environment.

-- My role as a Summer Music Camp Coach allowed me to work with students ranging from ages 9 to 17, teaching orchestral repertoire, chamber music, and individual lessons.

-- I have performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Southwestern Music Festival Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony Youth Chamber Orchestra, Mt. Saint Mary Orchestra, and Olympia Youth Orchestra, and even premiered a cello sonata by Kris Bowers at Avalon Hollywood, commissioned by the late Kobe Bryant.
