About Adrienne

I have been teaching French for 13 years in public high school. I graduaded Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in French and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2006. I was a semi-finalist for Pennsylvania State Teacher of the Year in 2012. Teaching French is my passion!

When I went to France for the first time, I realized that I wanted to show my own students the real life version of what they were learning!!

I majored in French for my Bachelor's degree and received a Master of Arts in Teaching after that! I have been teaching language, in some capacity, for 15 years.

About the lesson

Initially, I start by getting to know the ability level of the student, among all areas of proficiency I evaluate their ability to carry out the four major modes of communication and evaluate their proficiency level. Then I discuss what they've learned in class and where they feel they have strengths and weaknesses so that I can tailor my instruction directly to the students.

I have worked with all students of all ability levels!

Make sure that you hire someone who is personable and knowledgeable, but someone who absolutely loves what they do. The passion for the content makes a person want to work with it and be interesting, rather than just doing something for a financial benefit.

My favorite teaching moment was when I took a group of students to France, and one student looked around and said, "Madame, France really IS real! Look, there's everything you taught us about- the metro! The pharmacy sign! The cars!"

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should look at their study habits first and see if there's anything that they need to tweak. They should also know exactly what they struggle with so that they can help the teacher to identify how to best instruct.
