About Veronique

As a native French, I have always enjoyed sharing my culture with others in the United States. Being able to get rid of certain stereotypes and replacing them with real knowledge and understanding of the French people, their traditions, way of life and history is, in my experience, a vital part of the learning process. My teaching techniques are tailored to my students as I understand that everyone learns differently and I am always willing to change my lesson plans to adapt to specific needs. I have taught French to children as young as 5 yrs old all the way senior citizens; both as a teacher in traditional classroom setting and as a private instructor in my student's home. It is very important to me to make the learning experience as fun and enjoyable as possible and to always keep a positive attitude even when students are struggling. Being encouraging, patient and supportive are absolutely essential to one's success.

About the lesson

The first step is to establish what the student's goals and expectations are.

The next step is to get a better idea of the student's level in French (if any) and discuss what his or her learning experience has been like thus far. What worked, what didn't, any particular roadblocks that might have been encountered.... discussing the lessons frequency based on needs and availability.

Another important step relates to technicality in the learning process and the use of adequate material. Choosing between books, audio and visual aid, online material...etc. Whichever medium the student may be more comfortable with.

Finally, getting to know the student's hobbies and passions as it allows me to connect my lessons to subjects that might be of particular interests to my students thus allowing them to retain vocabulary and information more easily.
