About Scott

I am an encouraging, effective ONLINE guitar instructor and an experienced performing musician, offering beginner through intermediate online instruction for guitar, bass, and clarinet.
My rates are $34/45 minutes, $45/60 minutes.
I’m currently available (Eastern time) Monday and Thursday at 9am ET.
I provide a very thorough instruction method with my own created lesson materials (no book purchase needed), and correspondence between lessons.
It is very rewarding to me to help others along the journey of creative expression through music. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.
To kick back after a long day and let your soul speak through a musical instrument is a wonderful release. Please let me guide you along this incredible adventure to bring out that inner artist!
You'll learn guitar playing posture, strumming patterns and an understanding of rhythm, tuning, chords progressions and chord theory, basic principles of reading tablature and 5 line staff, and great popular songs. You'll be playing your favorite tunes in no time!
Through formal and self- instructed lessons from age 12, I've learned country, folk, blues, rock, and metal techniques and formed several local bands as lead vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist.
I also teach beginner through intermediate level clarinet!
-Beginner and Intermediate Guitar Instruction Jan 2008 - Jun 2016 (Self) Performing rock band vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist Jul 1980 - Jun 2016 in 3 local bands and 3 local worship teams. Home Studio music composition and recording Jan 1984 - Jun 2016 (Self) Building and repairing guitars, construction of guitar sound effects systems and speaker systems. Research of guitar, bass, amplifier, sound effects, sound system, in personal purchase and assistance for others. Middle and high school clarinet student, 7 years Sep 1968 - Jun 1976 (Public School)
-Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I also work with Hal Leonard guitar fundamentals as an option to the student for more specific training in five line staff.
-I teach with a casual, approachable, student-based technique which brings about progress at the student's individual pace. I enjoy connecting with students' creativity as their skills grow and watching their ability to express themselves musically. Music is an art, and expression through music is an amazing personal experience. I receive great rewards in being a part of the journey as students discover a deeper sense of who they are and what they can communicate through this unique and amazing form of expression.
Writing and recording my own music has been a hobby for over 30 years, and I have performed in 8 local bands.

Perfect! We just started working with Scott for acoustic guitar lessons with my 12 year old son. The first lesson went really well. Scott was patient and made my son feel very comfortable in the learning environment. We are excited to keep working with him.
- Thank you very much Stephanie. He is a great learner, very engaged, and a pleasure to work with. Looking forward to more!See the response Scott :
