Studying with Paul Meyers, I learned almost every kind of approach to play jazz guitar with his very well-organized curriculum. I have been studying with Paul for 2 years and find each lesson exciting, within reach, and productive. His knowledge of jazz is extensive professionally and historically and adds a perspective that helps make the music come alive. Paul is always ready to challenge any new skills I learn and creates an interactive performance dialogue, playing any and all parts of the music while I work through ideas and technique. Paul regularly invites students to attend his performances in a number of musical contexts as a leader and always with a unique and imaginative approach to improvisation. Paul is one of my favorite musicians whether performing straight ahead jazz, older traditional styles, Brazilian, or original solo material.
