About Brian
Guitarist, pianist, mandolin, flute, fiddle, tin whistle player, singer, performer, song writer and teacher for 45 plus years teaches one on one lessons in his home. Adults or children, beginners and intermediate levels.
I taught music in parochial schools (K-8) for 15 years and have been teaching classes (elementary and middle) in afterschook program for 3 years. You just can't beat the one on one for getting results, plus you can approach instruction in a way that suits the students best way of learning and goals for themselves. I also enjoy teaching adults. Generally, they have less time to practice but are more focused and determined. So. the first teaching I experienced as a 18 year old, (private lesson) is the one I enjoy the most. I like seeing people progress, reach and surpass their goals in music.
12 years of piano lessons, a couple of years of voice lessons. A music major at a local college for 2 symesters. Self taught on guitar, bass, flute, violin, mandolin, tin whistle, harp, pedal steel, banjo, uke and dobro. Taught private lessons at a local music store and in my home since 1974. Played in bands and solo since 1971. Taught general music (K-8) in 3 area parochial schools for 15 years. Currently teaching an afterschool program in 8 area schools in addition to private. Singer songwriter/composer.

I try to find out what their experience is with music, if any and what musical goals they might have. I might do an ear training test or jump in with rudimentary introduction to reading, clefs and time signatures, note values and of course, the early mechanics and technique of their instrument.
