First comes the relationship with the student. Getting to know what music the student likes to play, what musicians/singers/ he or she likes. Second, Building a Technique is always nessesary. I start them with finger warm ups and getting the hands where they should be and create a proficiant technique to prevent ensure there will be no bad habits when they get to learning more intermidiate and advanced material. Placement of fingers and guitar pick is always the first step. Then we move on to drills and warm ups and final I assign them songs to practice and learn. Finally, I help them with improvisation.
