About Lawrence
I enjoy sharing with students as well as other musicians things about the guitar that took me many years of practice to figure out on my own. There is a great sense of satisfaction when you figure out and make new discoveries.
It's great fun when you can play with a group of musicians who know their instrument and can just jam together in different genres of music styles..
I knew my material and I was told I could teach.
I started taking guitar lessons at age 9 for 8 years. Played in our family band. Played for church services for a few years. Performed in concert recitals while learning to play. Played in the CP Telethon 3 years in a row in Green Bay, WI. Play at open mic events such as the Art Garage. Played in the Pulaski Community Jazz Ensemble, 3 years. I also learned a lot on my own, creating my own style of playing. Took a music theory coarse at UW Milwaukee.

First find out what they already know. It illuminates boredom and gets them motivated and gets them started in the right place.
We are all students, weather in or out of the class room. We are always learning and we are all at different levels of accomplishment. These are the type of musicians (students) I've worked with.
Know what genre of music they wish to play and seek out that type of instructor.
Playing at Open Mic Night.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student will know what questions to ask when they are ready, based on what their instructor has already shown them on what and how to play.
For a beginner and shopping for a guitar: Shop around and find one that feels comfortable to play. The craftsmanship and playability very from one instrument to another. Like buying a pair of shoes, it has to fit.
