About Alexis
I'm a second-year computer science student at Metro State University. I love to write code, but even more, I love to share what I know. Seeing understanding dawn on a student's face is a delight.
Prior to attending school at MSU, I attended a Java coding bootcamp, and before that, I spent a summer independently studying the language, so I have a solid understanding of the ins-and-outs. Whether you're taking classes or self-studying, I can share this understanding with you!
As for myself, I am a trans woman, and I particularly enjoy working with other queer folks.
Writing code is like playing with Legos!
I am finishing my second year studying computer science at Metro State University; I have also completed a Java coding bootcamp; and I often write code just for fun!

I like to know your personal learning style. For me, I've discovered that learning is a lot more effective when I'm doing the work alongside whoever is teaching me (hands-on approach, in essence), so I prefer to teach that way. But I recognize that not everyone is like me, and I'm open to teaching in whatever style works best for you.
In this context, only classmates of mine. It's common practice for two programmers--one experienced, one not-so-experienced--to work together: the more experienced person describes the problem and what the pair will do to solve it (the navigator), and the less experienced person actually writes the code (the driver). I pick up concepts in this field relatively easily, and so I generally find myself in the navigator role.
Any teacher should meet you where you're at: they should be able to talk to you in a way that you will understand, and teach in the way that is most effective for you.

Just $20/hour--I've never tutored before, so I'm looking to build up some history and hopefully get some good reviews.
