About Maddie

I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, and moved to the U.S when I was 10 years old. Throughout high school, I was able to create a club for second-generation Korean Americans to learn Korean and gain an understanding of Korean culture. I also have worked at a Korean school as a teaching assistant for 4 years, teaching students between the ages of 4 and 17.

I enjoy teaching Korean especially for Korean Americans or those who are interested in Korean culture because I believe that learning different cultures and languages helps people develop greater values and understanding. I personally believe that learning and embracing one's background and culture is very important, which is why I want to teach Korean to more people.

I started teaching as a teaching assistant at a Korean school. At first, I wanted to teach because I love working with kids and giving back to the community. Once I started working at a Korean school, I realized that I enjoy teaching Korean to people.

I am currently a marketing and supply chain management double major at the University of Maryland College Park, and I have worked at a Korean school for 4 years as a teaching assistant.

About the lesson

I typically try to develop a trusting relationship with a student first and then work with a student to develop strategic planning for the tutoring sessions.

I have worked with students between the ages of 4 and 18.
