About Jim

I've been coaching professionally for 10 years and informally for many more. I'm a huge believer in individual motivation, articulation, and self-honesty, and my methods have helped me win a Top Pro designation (earned by fewer than 4% of professionals) every year since its inception several years ago. You can learn more at my Merlin Coaching website.

Problem-solving and one-on-one interaction are my two must-haves for anything I've done professionally. Life coaching suits me to the core. I love working one on one with clients and watching their lives improve as they begin to understand what they need to do to feel like they're playing life right.

My second grade teacher made me a consultant to help the other students, I tutored in junior high school, and I coached the first women's cross country team at my alma mater, so I've been doing teaching/coaching all my life. I started this business in 2011 as a full time profession.

I took the Martha Beck Life Coach Training program back in 2011 and got my certification there. The rest is a combination of life experience and the growth I've experienced by coaching hundreds of clients.

About the lesson

We start with a free consultation to clarify what you need and want from our work together and how I can help you achieve it. We also figure out when, how, and how often we'll meet. From there we will go session to session with a mix of discovery and action until you have a clear direction with clear motivations.

I've worked with students trying to get through college all the way up to retirees trying to figure out life after work. We've discussed careers, marriages, finding love, managing weight, creating good habits and losing bad ones...you name it, it's come up in this work.
