About Danielle

Om Shakti provides the perfect balance of over 23 years of medical experience fused with yoga and ayurvedic lifestyle philosophies woven together to provide a meaningful and from the heart, safe and holistic experience for clients.

Helping people see their light and recognize the power that resides within themselves. To be the carrier of a lineage that has worked for thousands of years in bringing illumination, health and peace to others.

Qualifications:

Certified and Licensed APRN (Nurse Practitioner)

500 RYT - Certified in Hatha, Meditation, Pranayama, Restorative, Yin, Chair, Nidra, Vinyasa Krama, The Four Desires, Tantra Shakti.

Pursuing additonal certification in ParaYoga with Yogarupa Rod Styker. Parayoga is special and focuses on stability and steadiness within the mind/body rather than movement. It is not restricted to the classroom or the mat, it is a holistic way for one to live and be present to serve the world.

I got started teaching after what I like to affectionaly refer to my lifestyle as "redlining it to the max".

There was a need for balance in all areas - intake, rest/sleep, work, etc!!

My exercises of choice had always been marathons, 1/2 marathons, long distance triathalon, Ironman..... the list goes on.  The need for something slower and restorative to build and restore ojas (mojo) instead of depleting it constantly was glaringly apparent.  I had regularly been a student of yoga so it made sense to take the leap and a deeper dive into a practice and lifestyle I had always been so very interested by.  The "sister science" of yoga is Ayurveda, I started studying and practicing Ayurveda even before entering into teacher training.  It is fascinating and extremely powerful for transformation, it was the changes and help I received through an Ayurvedic lifestyle that reinforced the yogic lifestyle was most consistent and inline with how I want to live my life.

I have a MANU - Nursing and have been a Nurse Practitioner since 2006 and RN since 1995.

Completed my first RYT August of 2016 - 200 hr

Currently RYT 500 - completed November 2018

Additional certifications in yoga include: Restorative, Yin, Chair, Nidra, Vinyasa Krama, Four Desires, Tantra Shakti

Establishing a relationship is paramount.

Working on trust which I am aware cannot necessarily be accomplished in one meeting or private.

Listening and really hearing what someone's wants and needs are but more importantly maybe what they aren't saying and paying attention to that.

Establishing a baseline of practice and goals where the client would like to be.  Measurable timeline and practice goals ie:  less anxiety at work, improved sleep most nights of the week, more hamstrings flexibility in 6 weeks, able to sit in meditation more comfortably for at least 15 minutes without fidgiting.

My advice would be to have an open heart and mind for both yourself and the teacher.  Not every person or teacher or style is the same.

Have an idea what you want and that will be extremely helpful to you getting that.

Be as committed to yourself and your practice as you want and expect your teacher to be to you.

Understand most people do not enter into this work for the money, we are not able to give free or steeply discounted classes to everyone all the time. Teachers do it to help others and spread a tradition of peace to help with a more stable life and quieter mind. Be respectful of your teachers training and commitment to their lineage, their love of their craft and what they are able to bring to you.

A most recent event I am proud of is my pilgrammage to India and the work I was able to do with the Himalayan Institute while in India Jan/Feb 2019.  We performed deep and profoundly moving practices, meditation and I immersed myself in a challenging life altering environment for an extended period of time.  It is these difficult situations we are able to dig deep within ourselves and allow transformational work to take place.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions students ought to consider are:

What is it that they are truly seeking?

Why are they turning to yoga?

Is there a goal we are working toward such as a peak pose or development of a home practice?

Are they able to comfortable discussing emotions which may arise during practice, if not, who will they discuss these types of things with?

How body aware are they as students? If yes, how did this develop?  If no, might be a barrier to this awareness?
