About

I'm a current student at the University of Maryland on a full tuition scholarship. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Winston Churchill High school and was a member of the National Math Honors Society. I love to teach math and help students learn and practice good study habits that will last them long into the future!

I tutored students and peers in math, french, english, and science during the last two years of high school as a member of the corresponding honors societies. My strength however is Math, I have been a tutor for friends and family members as well as my peers for about 4 years now. Despite this I have never charged for my tutoring service. Seeing as my friends and family members have all finished their high school education, I have decided to start branching out and tutoring as a part-time job

About the lesson

First, I ask what course they're taking, what school they go, and their teacher's name. I then go to their school's website and download the class syllabus. After making sure I am 100% familiar with the book and units they will be covering, I get to work. I start to help by guiding them through their current homework assignments, then reviewing any mistakes or missed questions on homeworks, or quizzes and tests. Generally, while they work, I take a "hands-off" approach and watch them go through their thought process. My goal is not to do the homework for them!

College freshman, high school students of all ages, and middle school students, but I am also very good with kids and have experience with babysitting. I am open to tutoring or offering a babysitter/tutor combined service as well.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A lot of students who struggle often times do not have trouble with the material itself, rather study habits, or other struggles like stest anxiety. All of which can be solved with practice. If students are not happy with a test result or grade, they should ask themselves: Did I study enough? Did I study the right material? Did I cram study the night before the test? Am I comprehending the material or just memorizing answers? Did I sleep enough before the test, or did I stay up late studying?
