About Connor

Hello, my name is Connor Flynn and I graduated this year from Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated in the top 10% of my class with a 4.75 GPA and have taken many challenging math courses such as AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC there. I have many years of tutoring experience throughout middle school and highschool as a member of the National Honor Society and now I am trying to make a few extra dollars before I go to college at UMBC.

I love teaching students math and helping them solve complex problems. I personally love the feeling of finally solving a complex math problems, but I understand that not everyone likes math or is good at it. With that being said, I assure you that with my help, your student will finally understand their math homework and have fun doing it.

I have been tutoring students in math at my middle school and high school for the past 6 years for free. I have also completed college level math courses at my high school while maintaining a 4.75 GPA. The math courses I have completed are: Honors Alegra 1, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Honors Calculus, AP Calculus AB (Calculus 1), AP Calculus BC (Calculus 2).

About the lesson

When I work with a new student I like to get to know them first by asking about their hobbies or about their school. I feel that this is the best way to get the student comfortable and focused to learn the material. When working with students, I like to start with a brief drill or recap before each lesson. I encourage students to ask me any questions they have and to try their best when solving problems. Over my years of tutoring, I have learned that each student learns differently and at their own pace. That being said, I completely understand making mistakes. I believe learning from the mistakes is what really helps you become an expert in a subject.

Some advice I would give a student hiring a tutor is to hire someone young who has recently completed these courses or knows them well. I also believe a younger tutor can relate more and can better understand what the student is going through academically, which is crucial in learning a subject.

I do not have a standard pricing system for my lessons yet. All the tutoring I have done in the past was with students from my school for free. I am open to suggestions on pricing.
