I am a NY/NJ based Actress/Singer/Dancer and a recent graduate of the New Studio on Broadway at NYU Tisch, studying Musical Theater and Minoring in Business of the Entertainment Industry (2019). Upon graduation, I worked regionally at Peterborough Players in New Hampshire and Lost Nation Theater in VT where I did "Pride and Prejudice" (Winner of Vermont's Broadway World Regional Theater Award for Best Actress in a professional Production). I am an experienced and passionate teacher, both in liberal arts and performing arts subject areas. I have worked as an NJ substitute teacher for 3 years, teaching grades K-12. I graduated from Glen Ridge High School with High Honors and from NYU with a 3.742 GPA and Cum Laude. I interned with Paper Mill Playhouse, assistant teaching for their Summer Conservatory in 2016. I have also interned and taught with Gaslamp Players in Glen Ridge NJ. This spring, I started teaching at Elefante Music, subbing as an instructor for a musical theater group class.

I have always loved children and the perspective, creativity and life they bring into a space. Their ability to look at things with an eye for imagination and possibility is so inspiring! Whether working through math homework, improving a paper, taking a voice lesson, learning a dance combination, or playing improv games, kids should always be given the tools to grow and expand their abilities, while maintaining a sense of play and joy in the work they do.

First, I sit down with a new student and get to know their personality. I introduce myself, and have a "warming up conversation," to gage how the student will best respond to me. Do they need a tutor with high energy, or someone calm and focussed? Do they like to laugh? Do they learn best visually, or orally? Next, the student and I work together to come up with some goals. What subjects are we needing to focus on? What is difficult about that subject? What comes easily about that subject? What does the student not enjoy about the subject? On the other hand, is there something we can find fun about the subject? After these questions are answered, the student and I formulate a checklist of about 5 goals we want to work towards together over the next few weeks. These goals could include master writing intro paragraphs, get comfortable with the 5 paragraph essay, nail long division, easily read 30 pages a night without taking breaks, consistently and accurately set up equations from word problems, practice public speaking until it is not so scary. After we make a list of these longer term goals, we will come up with 2-3 goals for the specific work session; Complete math homework, edit journal entry together, take a practice spelling test.
Students ranging grades K-12
I have experience working with kids with developmental disabilities though volunteer positions and through babysitting.
Look for a teacher who will push you to your potential, while also celebrating where you are excell! More importantly, find a teacher who deeply cares for your growth and wants to approach everything from a creative and joyful place.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think about what comes easily to them and why, as well as what is difficult for them and how they will best learn to understand it. When do they find that learning comes easy? What seems to work for them and what doesn't? Different people learn differently. Learning how you learn will vastly improve your ability to comprehend current topics, as well as future topics.
