About Amanda

This Opportunity is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of elementary school students.

Initially when I began tutoring, it was just suppose to serve as a way to build a supplemental income, but I ended up loving it so much that I just continued doing it.

I decided to become a teacher because I come from a long-ish line of teacher in my family. For me it was not a decision I took lightly. I did decide this after university and not knowing what to do with my Social Work degree. I knew what I wanted to do since I was about 7 yrs old. I remember playing “school” with my siblings, and guess who was the teacher.

Education was always of great importance in my family. My grandmother was an elementary teacher for 30 years, one of my aunts taught elementary for 25 yrs, and my other aunt taught in school as well went on to teach at the university level. I have two cousins who are not teachers, but work at University of Houston .

I currently have a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree and I am working on my Teaching Certificate in Elementary education .

About the lesson

During my initial with my students , I normally engage them in some ice breakers activities regarding their input about the topic, and what they find most difficult e.g.. We may try curriculum or exercises and try to give some words of reassurance.

Actually, and really: all. I enjoy working with all age groups and different learning styles; I like to work with challenging students.

There are many things but the #1 is to have a genuine Love of Learning · 2. Excellent Presentation and Communication Skills · 3. Resourcefulness and Technological Savviness · 4. Be passionate about the art of teaching.

There are many instances when I feel very happy. Additionally, I take pleasure in every minor success, and I am lucky enough to live through all of these joyful days. However, here I would like to discuss such an incident when I was over the moon. My daughter was chosen to be Miss Southern at the University she attends.
