About May
Study with me! I am a tutor passionate about teaching and helping you (or your kids) achieve better grades! My method focuses on teaching you how to teach yourself, so that you will always know the best study methods and never struggle in classes again.
I am a college student entering my sophomore year at Cornell University, with a major in Human Development. Currently, I have a GPA of 4.00 and made the Dean's List in the last semester, so I definitely know a thing or two about studying.
I can also coach you on your college applications, in particularly the SAT and college essays. I was accepted into 12 top American colleges: BU, Case Western, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, NYU, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, Berkeley, UMich, and Wellesley. If you need a set of eyes to read over your essay or check over your application, contact me and I would love to give you feedback!
I have been a Biology tutor back in high school as well as a member of the Writing Center, so I weekly helped students with concepts of biology and with essay writing.
Other than that, I am a Human Development Major with a possible track in education, so I have a good understanding of child psychology as well as the psychology of studying to help my students learn easier and quicker.

It depends on the student's needs! If they want my help with homework, then we will simply go over the homework together and I will answer any questions that they have. If they want to improve in a certain subject, then I would have questions for them to do or we could talk about the subject so that I can gouge their understanding and proceed from then!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would advice students to always ponder the questions starting with 'why' and 'how' rather than 'what'. So instead of fixating on 'what is the answer?', I want students to really examine 'why/how is that the answer?' I have learned from a young age that in order for you to advance in any type of study, you have to really truly understand the concept. If you do not understand, but simply memorize the method to solve an equation, it will just be more confusing for you when you have to face more difficult concepts in the future. Therefore, you always have to have the basics down and to do that, you must ask the questions 'why' and 'how'.
