About Jacob
I've performed and taught in every setting, and I would still consider myself a student.
I have two percussion performance degrees and taught in the collegiate setting during my Master's degree. I've also taught in the public school setting.
I was a founding member of Guerrilla Fanfare, a NOLA style brass band in Colorado. I've participated in the Houston Brass Band, and currently play with Houston's Accordion Super-Stars.
I love helping people discover the joy of music, whether or not they have the goal to continue on for a college education degree or for their own musical goals.
I've been teaching since my time as a high school student, continuing through college, recently ending my time as a full-time educator in the public school system.

Introductory lesson - find out what the student can do, wants to do, and is currently working on. Introduce the student to new styles of music and systems to help them achieve these goals. Give the student a "diagnostic sheet" and an overview of what we would work on together.
Any student that wants to learn music through percussion and drums.
Everyone deserves the gift of music.
Being a good performer and musician does not mean that the person you are studying with is the best teacher. It also does not mean they are the best teacher for you.
My final concert with my percussion students in Spring 2021. I love kids, spending six years of my life with them. It was stressful, but our final concert was went very well and was very special for me.
For my own performances, getting to play with my band, Houston's Accordion Superstars. We've been playing together for 5 years now, and it has been amazing to get back together and play live shows with them.
