About Shahida Fozia

I have tought a lot of short classes to people in lot of different skills like computers (Windows, Excel, word, etc) to adults, photography, English to non natives, Urdu to Afghans, cooking to starters, sewing and cutting to my yonger sister....

In short I am really good in teaching to Adults.

Well, I took some personal classes early in my childhood. I felt so greatful to the teacher who taught me something that I did not know. I also got interested in sharing knowledge. So when ever I will learn something new I will go around that try to tell others in my surroundings. So as I started to work I prefered to share and always volunteered to do a presentation when a need arised.

I am teaching classes on multiple topics so I have section for each here:

MS Office and MS Powerpoint and other computer related topics:

I had started to learn computers in 70ties as child. I worked in Information Technology between 1994 through 2009. I still use computer on daily basis.

I have tought classes to adults who had never seen computer before to software engineer who were going to use a new technology on project. Meaning have taught classes on basic topics to advance topics to advance users of computers.

Photography:

I am not a professional photographer. Photography has been my hobby since 1994 or so. I bought my own film camera sometime in 1995 or so with around a dozen films, 36 frames per roll. I used them up in few months.

Then in 2006 I bought my first cell phone with camera and used it a lot until I bought my DSLR in 2008 which was SOny Alpha 350. For two years I took tone of pictures every month. you can see some of my work sample on :

I send out questionaire to the students to evaluate what is their existing level of knowledge and what is thier experience in terms of what they have done so far. It also includes questions regarding what they want to achieve and expect from the course. It helps me to customize the lessons for them.

I donot have a set course that I teach.

So depending on their knowledge and prior expereince each  student can potentially get different instructions and assignments than those who have some exposure and are more interested in learning something more specific. Further based on how easily they are able to do the given assignment determines if they will get more assignments on the same topic or will get a new topic started.

Mostly Adults. Even as child I used to hang around with adults and started to teach. I remember once I came up with some speech that talked about negotiation I think. I was only 7 or 8 years old. I went to an office with someone and offered them that if they attend my session during lunch and if they did not like what I deliver I will give my $20 equally divided among attendees and if they liked it they will give me money. I ended up giving away my $20 but then there were two people who said they actually learned couple of points and regardless it was fun to attend the session and gave me $20/each so in net I made $20. It was sometime around 1976/77.

Try to make a list of what you know or you think you know. Also make a list of what you want to learn or want to be able to do at the end of classes? This will guide your teacher to teach you that really matters to you. Because these software are really very extensive and have many features that most users won't use unless they are in a specific profession or situation.

Everything that I am fond of have not happen in recent time period. But last one would be going to see my parents. I like them and I like traveling.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I am teacher who will assess what level of knowledge you have and where you want to be in your expertise on the topic you pick. Based on that I set some goals. I will customize future sessions based on that.

So you should ask yourself if you want some structured classes that have predefined set of instructions or if you need someone flexible to who you can tell what you really want to learn and she will build your skills to get there?

Other things to consider are if you are open to learn online, travel to teacher or need teacher to travel to you. What times are more suited to you as compare to what are less convenient times but you are still available and what are times and days you absolutely can not attend the class?
