About Shane

I’m an award winning freelance advertising and editorial photographer specializing in portraits. I have produced a number of national record and magazine covers and hundreds of articles. I’ve also photographed celebrities, products, food, and interiors for studios I’ve worked for.

I can teach you the theories of creating interesting art, the mechanics of your equipment, the craftsmanship of lighting and getting the most out of your sessions.

I’m also a member of the American Society of Media Photographers. You can see my portfolio at (concealed information)

When I trained under other photographers, I’d often train the new assistants. After I became a pro, people would occasionally asked me and after a few times it became fun and refreshing.

I have a Bachelors in Film Production and trained under some of the top photographers in the nation.

About the lesson

The typical process starts out learning the goals of the student (hobbyist or future professional). Then we study the kinds of photos they like and see what they like about them. At this point a pattern usually emerges that tells me where the student wants to be with their photography and their preferred style. This allows me to focus on the things they need to work on to achieve their goals.

I’ve worked with everyone from preteens to septuagenarians.

Find a teacher that shoots the kind of things you want to shoot. They’ll share your passion.

I charge $100/hr, minimum 2 hours. I find two hour lessons are the sweet spot in getting to actual learning but not being bogged down with too much information at once.

There may be additional fees for longer distances.
