About Darcy
My process is not to milk you financially week after week. My goal is to get you out on your own and on stable footing. I have done this with many photographers. I run workshops I have taught as well as regular shootouts.
My process in teaching is to critique and refine your process. The only way to do this is to understand where you go wrong.
In art failure and success are two sides of the same coin. Photography is extensive.
In many cases pushing the button is just the beginning.
I am first focused on getting your optical quality and your focus achieved. This is the number 1 problem that photographers have. My students do not just push a button. In photography, we call this spray and pray. You will learn to compose and line up your shot before the shutter clicks. When you can shoot manual and you understand optical quality and correct focus you will be turned loose. If you choose to learn photoshop with me this can be done in your home remotely. Photoshop is a beast of a program but I have developed a work flow and understand how to develop Raw images, layering, beauty retouching and luminosity masking for landscape work and a laundry list of other techniques to process images.
I also have a network of models who know their craft and produce beautiful work. If you decide to shoot portrait work I have all the gear needed to shoot full studio sessions. From strobes to modifiers and everything in between.
I never saw before I was a photographer, my eyes worked fine I just never bothered to realize what my eyes were really made for. I missed so many things and never really caught the point of seeing in the first place. In a photographic sense.
Today rarely does much get past me. I pay attention to details that may seem insignificant to others, but I can utilize to create work I'm proud of.
I love to gift this to others. Photography has been a passport to celebrity clients, people I admire and relationships I adore. Had it not been for my camera and the hunger that drives me I would never have discovered. I would love to help you start your own Journey and be apart of what will change your life if passion takes root.
I started teaching when others were coming to me to help them with their work. I realized I loved it. I also learn a ton from teaching and it has given me a sense of purpose and pride when I see my students do well.
I learned to shoot manual by an apprenticeship in 2014. The rest I learned on my own. I kept my ego out of the picture and critiqued often. What does this mean? I would have my worked ripped apart by someone I respected. This has allowed me to refine my process.

The way I approach teaching a student is to meet them where they are in their process. If they can shoot manual or if that's what they need to learn. I teach my process. A lot of things sound technical and difficult but in actuality are easy to understand with the right explanation. I focus first on good optical quality. Light, focus, white balance and other settings that make a picture suitable to the eye. I try to approach it in the way that it made sense to me.
I teach the rules of composition how to work with light modifiers. Model direction and recruiting the right models without paying out of pocket.
I have worked with students on landscape and studio and also macro work. I am mostly sought out for my studio work and use of light.
I would make sure the instructor has a portfolio that you would be proud to call your own.
I recently did a shootout that was steampunk themed. it was a great experience and I had a great time hosting the event.

I have a fully stocked photography studio. I have a group of experienced models that I have chosen for their beauty and posing. I also prefer models who will take direction but they don't always need to be directed. I also have the wardrobe. My models are all proficient in makeup as well. I can arrange all the lessons with a model included for 150.00 for 2 hours.
Nude work is not included in this pricing due to the model cost
