About Edward
I am a professional freelance photographer of 25 plus years. My specialty is portraits for corporations, higher education, magazines and architectural photography for architects, construction firms, and real estate companies. I have exten sive knowledge of both natural lighting and artifical lighting techniques. I am an expert in the use of Photoshop and Lighroom.
I also teach photography at the Academy of Art in San Francisco so I have the ability to impart my knowledge of photography to beginners as well as more advanced photographers.
In additon I am a licensed FAA Part 107 drone operator and can teach proper and safe use of DJI drones such as the Mavic Series and Phantom series of drones.
In my free time I enjoy running, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, backpacking and kayaking.
I love the constant challenge of problem solving of planning, producing, lighiting, working with subjects and coming out with great photographs. In my teaching I enjoy guiding students through the unique learning experience of making compeling images.
My original entry into teaching was through assisting with nordic ski instruction. Once I became a photographer I did guest lectures for various colleges ulimately landing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where I have taught for 13 years.
I hold a BA degree from Brooks Institue of Photography and currently teach at the Academy of Art and have taught adult education classes at a variety of schools.

First we asses the students current level of knowldge, then determine what the student wishes to learn. From that we can work out a plan to cover the technique required to achieve their goals as a photographer. This can be purely technical, creative or a combination of the two.
I have worked with a diverse group of students from college age through older adults.
