About Jill

I have 28 years of experience in allowing my subjects to be comfortable in front of the camera. This ensures natural expressions that can be hard to achieve.

Creating natural looking expressions and illustrating connections between couples and families has warmed my heart for over 28 years. This is what drives me to continue doing this always!

I can help you to learn my techniques that will help you achieve heartstopping images for your family or your clients.

I had too many clients requesting this and now I finally have the time...so...

I have 26 years of experience in the field photographing over 300 weddings in the beginning of my career which started in 1992 in Seattle, WA, and then in 2002, I started a family portrait business that ran until 2018. I photographed close to 1,000 prominent northwest families, including several Seattle Seahawks and their families.

I received my education at Washington State University, then the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, followed by a CO-OP internship with Walt Disney Imagineering.

About the lesson

I like to chat with the student over the phone to find out where they are at experience wise. Once that is established, we will figure out which of my classes they would fit into best or if they would like individual coaching.

Beginners, as well as what you could call 'peers' in my business. Both are great fun for me and challenge me in different ways.

Look for a person that A) you like their style of work B) find a personality that you mesh with well and C) determine what your needs are: technical or artistic (I am far more proficient in the artistic realm than the technical.)

I had originally photographed this woman in a winter landscape and her business is transformational healing.

I drove by a beautiful hillside covered in purple lupines. i immediately thought of this particular woman and how it could be the ideal step to illustrate what she does. Sure enough, I was right! Wow! The results were stunning!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1) Are you looking for creative direction or technical direction?

~I would always direct a student to me if they are about artistic/creative direction, but not so much in the technical realm. I have always approached photography from a creative place and learned what I needed to know to get me the results I wanted. There are other instructors who can give you the technical instruction. That is NOT my forte.

Private lessons (One student) start at $150.00 per hour or a series of 5 for $600.00.

Semi-private (3-7 students) start at $100.00 for a single lesson or a series of 5 for $400.00.

Group lessons 8+ students $75.00 for a single lesson or a series of 5 for $300.00.
