About Lynn
I have been doing photography since I was a child, so even though I don't have a great deal of formal education in photography, I have a lifetime of a experience. I was mentored by my father, Roy, who did professional photography and ran the base darkroom while in the military during WWII. Most of my background is with traditional film cameras but I currently shoot with a digital SLR (Nikon D3100). I believe strongly that a photographer should know how to control their camera even if they wish to "point and shoot" most of the time. You cannot great great photos without this knowledge. The other big thing is knowing how to compose a shot. I think I can teach both effectively.
I have taken college classes in photojournalism (1 semester at Florida Keys Community College in Key West, FL.) and Film/Video Production (1 year at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA.) I am skilled in photo shooting and black and white/color darkroom work. I'm learning photoshop and am willing to share what I do know.
My own photography is a combination of outdoor/nature/wildlife photography and action/sports. I love doing both and sharing this knowledge with others. Check out my photos below for some examples.
I love being outdoors and enjoy the challenge of getting the perfect shot, and enjoy sharing this knowlege with others. You can get great with practice and mentoring/coaching.

I’d like a practical approach. Giving a student a chance to practice and develop their skills with my guidance. I believe this works great deal better than just getting books and using that kind of an approach. Photography in many ways is similar to music in that you get better with practice.
Pick someone who’s photography interest so similar to what you’re trying to learn. If I were looking for a teacher to improve my skills I would look for someone who could give me practical experience in guidance much like I’m trying to offer to others. Books and classes can only teach so much. The rest comes from coming out and doing it.

Details
I was raised by a photographer. My father did photography and ran the darkroom on his military base during World War II when I was adopted in 1956 he pass the skills on to me starting at a very young age so I think I have the skills of the average professional. I have much more practical shooting experience in teaching experience but I’m sure that I can teach as well. My approach to teaching is more like an apprenticeship than a classroom.
