About Holly

I have been teaching for over 25 years. I love when students get that "light bulb" moment and they understand something that has been bothering them for a while. Students walk away with a repetoire book of songs in many different styles that can be used for performance or auditions.

I enjoy seeing someone realize what a difference it's made in their lives and how much more confidence they have. This is why I teach. It's all about confidence.

I had a friend who was moving into teaching full time and needed someone to pass her students on to. I started then teaching piano and voice and never looked back.

I have a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. I have performed for many years as a soloist with the United States Army Band and currently I sing with a group called Uptownvocaljazzquartet. I have had many private students through out the years.

About the lesson

I typically will meet with the student for the first time to make sure it's what we both expect. If we are both happy then we proceed with talking about what their specific needs are and decide on the best package for them.

I have taught all ages and types of students from Doug Hill, the local meteorologist to Miss Virginia pageant contestant.

I think it's important that your teacher not only has teaching experience but continues to work in their chosen field of expertise.

I just recently sang at the Chestertown Jazz Festival in Chestertown, Md. It was an amazing experience with many professional musicians and singers attending and participating.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much are you willing to practice?

Are you willing to be an active and committed student?
