About Marren

Nearly 20 years of piano-playing experience and 3 years teaching, Marren uses her piano background, which includes instruction from Brigham Young University, to help her pupils grow in their own music journey.

I love seeing my students progress and learn to play beautiful music! We all have music inside us, it's about getting the right tools to make the music happen.

My piano teacher, who has a degree in music and teaching, gave me lessons on teaching piano and assessed my teaching methods at the end of the course

-Learning piano for 19 years

-3 years teaching experience

-Recieved instruction at Brigham Young University

About the lesson

Before we start lessons, I like to know how much music background my student has, with and without piano. Then we start on the level of books determined best for the student. I like to know what type of music my student wants to learn and is interested, to keep their passion burning.

Beginner and intermediate students, ages 5-18.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
-What tools do I have?

-What do I think is the answer to my question?

-It is VERY important to me that my students feel comfortable asking questions and experimenting. This is a learning and growth zone!

Perfect! Marren suggests appropriate music, that challenges the student but is playable and fun. She is flexible in terms of which pieces the student wants to play. Sets realistic goals to achieve each week and is clear about what to work on every week.
