About Casey

Hello! My name is Casey Grimm, and I teach private clarinet lessons to students of all experience level, from Beginners to Advance collegiate level. I have been playing clarinet for 10 years, and I've been a musician for even longer. I love working with students and giving them the tools and skills they need to grow into talented musicians! Whether you are just picking up an instrument and don't know where to start, or you have a big audition coming up that you really want to ace, I'm more than happy to help you succeed!

Hearing someone grow as they continue learning is always such a joy! Sometimes students don't even realize that they're improving, but as a teacher, it can be clear as day. And watching a student master a skill they thought they could never achieve is incredibly fulfilling, for both the teacher and the student. I am always happy to have been a positive part of someone's musical journey.

I have a Bachelor's in Clarinet performance from Cal State Northridge, and I am working towards getting a Master's degree in Clarinet Performance as well. Having been principal clarinetist of multiple wind ensembles and orchestras, I have experience leading group clarinet sectionals. I also have multiple years of experience teaching private lessons to students of varying ages and skill level.

About the lesson

Whenever I have a new student, I want to learn about their goals as a musician, whether that's preparing for an upcoming audition or just learning because it's fun! This will give us something to work towards, which lets me customize our lesson structure around those goals.

Of course, no matter where you are in your musical journey, I find that there are certain fundamentals that are invaluable to every clarinetist. So once I know your goals as a student, I also like to make sure those fundamental building blocks are strong. This way, our lessons will have a good balance of what the student wants and what they need.

My prices are $45 for hour lessons and $30 for a half hour.

While half hour lessons may be helpful for someone who is just starting or maybe unsure about whether clarinet is right for them, I have found that full hour lessons tend to be the most productive, and allow for quicker growth as a musician.

I am only doing in-person lessons at the moment.
