About Charity

I am a music student at Wayland Baptist University School of Music, and I am about to graduate with my Bachelor of Arts in Music. I have been teaching music lessons for five years now. I have a big passion for teaching music to students as young as 4 and up. I think it is essential for a young person to have music as apart of their life for the cognitive and social development, and also for adults to continue their creativity and use it as a leisure activity (or more if they choose). I also have experience working with special ed students. Every student is so special to me, because I love to work individually and teach them to how they learn and make them enjoy their instrument from there. This creates their love for music that they will hopefully carry through the rest of their lives! I also have three recitals every year as a whole studio for my students to show off what they have worked on.

I started teaching 5 years ago from a young lady in my youth ministry asking if I would teach her guitar. This was when I began studying music professionally, and I took it on a found out how much I love teaching music!

I am about to graduate in May 2019 with my Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Wayland Baptist University School of Music. This means that I have successfully passed my music theory, music history, piano, and vocal sophomore proficiencies. I also have special training in my degree particular to training private lessons.

About the lesson

If I start with a new student and they are a beginner, I will begin at the beginning of learning the instrument with the fundamentals. If I start with a new student, and they have taken lessons before, I will assess them to see where they are in the learning, and then do my best to start them where they left off from.

I have worked with students as young as 4 years old to as old as 70 years old. I also have experience in working with special needs.

The most recent event with my studio was the past week’s fall student Showcase Recital. This was held at a local church building (rented out for us). Each student got to perform 2 pieces from the studying to perform for their friends and family. Through this, they learned how to perform as professional musicians and about recital etiquette.
